The MCARC setup a display at the Penns Wood's West Event held on Feb. 16/17 at Mercer High School. A computer system was setup complete with 2 monitors, one for public view and one for the radio opps; several software programs were installed for PSK-31 and RTTY operation and radio control as well. The rig was a Yeasu FT-1000-MP and the antenna was a Gap Challenger DX 80-2 mtrs vertical; no tuner was needed as the Gap tuned nicely on the HF bands via the MP's auto tuner. Seveal HF contacts were made on both days in SSB, PSK-31, & RTTY modes with most of the contacts (both stateside & dx) were logged by Doug, W3SAX; Heather, KB3HFL, also made some PSK contacts on Sunday. The table was complete with both MCARC Club handouts, ARRL handouts, and World Radio mags. There were also QSL cards and Special Event Certificates for public viewing. Several MCARC members stopped by to ragchew and we had many inquires from the those that passed by, especially when we were running the digital modes. Special thanks to the Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce for the invite and also to Dave, N3CM, Larry, N3JDH, and Doug, W3SAX for the much appreciated help of setup and teardown and to Dennis, WM3H, who took the pics.
