Autopatch: Chuck Paddock, K8CLP, reported that the phone line is necessary for the control of the repeater. Jerry Parkany, N8PY, mentioned that autopatch abuse is not to be allowed and should be addressed. The next abuse is to be reported to Barney Scholl, K3LA, License Trustee. Gordon Frissora, KZ3W, addressed the issue when the repeater was shut off when obsenities were being used. Mike Varga, NR3C, explained that he requested listeners to engage in direction finding during the obscene transmissions. When nothing was done, NR3C shut off the repeater to eliminate the obscenities. KZ3W says that a plan should be put in place to find the vicinity of bootleggers. Florence Paddock, W2AYH, made a report about a bootlegger making cutting remarks about Club members on the repeater during the September 2000 meeting of the MCARC. Jerry Viele, W8JV, and Bonnie Viele, N8MCX, suggested to get the bootleggers on tape so the FCC could utilize the FBI crime lab. W8JV also reported that in Ohio eleven digit phone numbers are now required. The W8QLY repeater does not allow long numbers into the autodialer. He suggested the Club take this into account when looking at another repeater.
Lost HT: Jerry Viele, W8JV, mentioned that a lost HT has been handed over to him. Anyone believing it is theirs
should contact Jerry.
